Sanjna prides herself on being able to eat cereal with milk in a moving car. She enjoys finding humor in most things as well as telling funny stories about growing up in the Bay Area. Like Tony Bennett, she left her heart in San Francisco, except more like forty minutes away in Cupertino.
Currently you can find her hunched over her desk storyboarding on TMNT 2 at Paramount Animation. Previously she's developed an original series for Bento Box Entertainment, storyboarded for features at Pixar and Netflix, and written/directed her own films. In 2021 she graduated with a BFA in Character Animation from CalArts, a school built entirely of stairs (you would not believe how strong her quads are now). Her short film Birdboy, featuring an odd bird-man-child monstrosity with the likeness of Luciano Pavarotti, won awards at the Maine Animation Festival and Spookfest and was featured in the CalArts Producers' Show and CAA's fifth annual Moebius Film Festival. Her thesis film Local Middle Schooler was an official selection at SXSW, the Florida Film Festival, Atlanta Film Festival, and deadCenter. Sanjna recently wrote and directed her first live action short titled 8am & 8pm (stay tuned for status updates, it's very cool).
Moving forwards, she will continue making films on her own time and hopes to get paid for it someday. Her dream of dreams is to work across both the mediums of animation and live action, so she can see to fruition the entire range of stories rumbling around in her brain. She spends her free time in two ways: one, holed up in her room with the shades drawn watching movies, and two, complaining about how bright it is outside.
She is managed by Matt Shichtman at The Gotham Group. For professional work, such as writing, directing, and storyboarding, you can contact him at [email protected].
For unprofessional work, such as Netflix parties, boozy picnics, and stupidly competitive outdoor activities, you can contact her at [email protected]
